Facts
on Church of St. Peter
The
harbor of Jaffa, one of the oldest in the world became the chief seaport
of ancient Israel. The cedars of Lebanon were shipped
through here to Solomon's Temple. (II Chron. 2:16) Napoleon and
Richard, the Lion-Hearted both trod this ground. Crusader
fortifications were built here also. The original painting was pastel. The balmy clouds rising from the beach area behind help complete the personality of this painting. With the horse-drawn wagon making a delivery from the nearby market, the palm trees and green foliage surround this beautiful church and make it a striking scene. With the great history included, this art print is a keepsake. |
