LANDSCAPE PAINTING, THE WESTERN ART OF TEXAS
by West Texas Artist, Hugh Campbell III

Quoting a little West Texas lingo, "IN THE PEN TODAY", means the latest news item that is presently cooking or actually what is in your corral at the moment!  It could be the latest foal just dropped from a high- powered brood mare or a prize bull just purchased from up north.  Other indications could mean that there was a pen full of calves that needed branding and working.  Lots of action and a good home-cooked meal could be expected.  It has connotations for all the neighbors to come over and see for themselves.
To transpose those conditions to this art page today, we want you to do the same.  So the invitation is out and YOU COME ON OVER and see for yourself.  I will try to keep this page rather active placing a new graphic or news item up frequently. Probably can't promise to keep the home-cooked meal for everyone, but do promise an unusual twist about some of my art experiences.

Here is a recent commissioned quarterhorse portrait  placed out in a natural setting.
