Landscape Paintings...
The Western Art of Texas
by West Texas Artist, Hugh Campbell III

"My Grandfather, Hugh Campbell and John Wayne"

My grandfather was almost 90yrs. old when this photo was taken
and I fear we never made him understand who this Western Icon,
John Wayne was.  Besides he never went to many movies later in
life and his eyesight was not good, but he had a jolly good time
conversing with Big John about cattle, horses and western life-the
only life he knew.  Our family has always treasured this photo and
I wanted to share it and his colorful life with our readers.   I guess
what is so important about these two men is that they both laid
down a pathway of integrity, hard work, and good will to others.
Both men are gone now, but they have left a hard act to follow!
